ABOUT ME
I have been teaching at Buford Middle School since I graduated from college. I currently teach 8th grade math and Accelerated Coordinate Algebra/Analytic Geometry A for 8th grade students taking advanced curriculum.
I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2003 with a BSEd in Social Sciences Education. I am certified to teach a multitude of subjects, however, which is why I am now your child's math teacher. One thing that I think has helped me to become a better math teacher is that I can understand where a child who doesn't enjoy math is coming from. It was my least favorite subject in school. I simply memorized what I needed to know to get through tests and maintain a good grade in the class. I never understood why we did what we did and always wished I could go to a school without a math curriculum. Now I know the importance of breaking things down for my students to help them understand the processes behind what we are doing which helps them understand and apply the concepts better and, in the long run, be a stronger math student. I know I can't make everyone love math but I can help make it less frustrating and more understandable.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, my husband (Brett),kids (Braydon and Teagen) and playing with our dogs (Harlow, Addison, Sadie, and Callie). My husband and I have our own ministry and we lead mission teams into El Salvador every July to build homes and renovate churches. We absolutely love the country and its people and we plan to retire there one day.
